FootMotion Maitland Store Manager takes on the Coast to Kosci 240km
We’re incredibly proud of our Maitland store manager, Benn, who is preparing for one of the most prestigious ultramarathons in Australia – the Coast to Kosci 240km. Starting on Friday, 22nd November, Benn will be racing from Eden on the south coast of NSW all the way to Charlotte Pass, summiting Mount Kosciusko along the way.
With only 60 runners selected each year, this year’s event is highly competitive. The course is a challenging combination of 70-80% road and 20-30% trail, with unpredictable weather conditions that can range from scorching temperatures to rain and even snow at the summit.
Benn has been putting in some serious training, averaging 150km per week across aerobic runs, strength training, and mobility work. His training includes long sessions on both road and trail, preparing him for the mix of terrains he’ll face. He's also being coached by Stroke No Limits Coaching, and receiving treatment from his osteopath to keep in top shape.
He’s aiming for the podium, but with a race as unpredictable as this, anything can happen. Benn’s strategy includes efficient fuelling with Tailwind, using Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 to start the race, transitioning to Saucony Endorphin Pro 4 for the later stages, and switching to the Brooks Glycerin Max as the race progresses and the Salomon Genesis for the trail section.
We'll be following Benn's journey closely, cheering him on every step of the way, and keeping you updated on his progress. Best of luck, Benn! We know you'll make everyone proud out there.
